The exmoor manor hotel was our home for 2 nights recently as we finished off our mini UK honeymoon. It's the first time we have visited this part of the country and it is truly stunning. The location of the hotel and attached Beggars Roost pub (see separate review of this fantastic place!) is great with access to beautiful country and coastal walks but close enough to the nearby small towns for a donder also.
We stayed in room 1 which is very spacious with a super king size bed, modern decoration, large window overlooking the garden and neighbouring field with its resident cows, pheasants and if you're lucky stag. There are in room facilities such as small fridge and tea and coffee making facilities with some yummy cookies, definitely a plus point for someone like me who needs caffeine as soon as they wake up. The ensuite bathroom is massive with a roll top bath and shower with double head, again beautifully decorated.
We were allowed a little nosey around the rest of the hotel rooms (7 in total) and the standard of decoration and quality is equal in each one. We would stay there again in a second and are already planning our return visit.
We didn't stay at the hotel but at the camp site next door...but we did eat in the pub 'Beggar"s Roost" which is attached to the hotel. The food was superb, the atmosphere welcoming and the food delicious .....and best of all for us our dogs were made very welcome too!!
Received a very warm welcome even though we booked at short notice. The hotel is being completely refurbished by its new owners. Our newly decorated en-suite room was great, lovely and warm and had everything we needed with the bonus of the adjoining Beggars Roost for a good meal in the evening. Perfectly located for walks on Exmoor and visiting nearby Lynton and Lynmouth. Wifi available at the Beggars Roost, not sure about the hotel - it may be available once the refurb is completely finished and the hotel is fully up and running.
The Hotel is not yet up and running but I am sure after seeing the Beggers Roost next door which is owned and run by the same team Jan & Kevin that this will be the place to stay. The food in the Beggers Roost is equal any top restaurant with large portions that are not over priced, we ate on Friday & returned to dine the following day.The hosts are charming and the staff all seemed to enjoy working with them.
We were staying in woolacombe, and decided to go to the hillside railway in Lynton, we had a walk around the small village and decided to take a drive a bit further along to get a Sunday dinner. We randomly came across this place, and as we pulled in we all thought it looked amazing from the outside. Well it was the same inside. All refurbished with lots of character! As soon as we walked in the land lord and lady were very helpful and showed us a table straight away. We got talking to the land lord and it turns out he moved from Kent and had lived a few miles down the road from where we were from, and was originally my friends neighbour. (Small world) they have not long taken on this place and what they have done to it looks very impressive and worked very hard for it. They have also taken on a very good chef as the food was just amazing. One of the best roast dinner we have had in ages. Nothing was a problem for them. Very nice people! I would highly recommend this place. The hotel side will be opening in 3 to 4 weeks apparently, and I can imagine once this is finished, it would be well worth a stay here. We will definitely be returning in the future when we re visit devon again.
P's thankyou for my daughters birthday sing along she was over the moon. Xx
